The client

Credence Land and Fence is a fence and outdoor services contractor on Oak Ridge Road in Tallahassee, Florida. They install and repair privacy, security, chain link, wood and vinyl fencing for residential and commercial properties across North Florida.

Good crew, real craftsmanship, established local reputation. What they did not have was a website, or any way for a Tallahassee homeowner to find them on Google.

The challenge

This was not a rescue job. It was a standing start.

Credence had no website at all. No domain history, no pages for Google to index, no accumulated signals of any kind. In search terms, the business simply did not exist, and everything a competitor had built up over years, Credence had none of.

Tallahassee is not an easy market to enter cold either. The fence map pack was already held by established contractors with years of reviews, photos and local links behind them. A brand new domain starts every one of those races from the back.

The problem in one line
Credence needed to go from invisible to competitive in a market where every rival had a multi-year head start. There was nothing to optimise, nothing to fix and nothing to build on. It all had to be built right the first time.

The strategy

Starting from nothing is a disadvantage in one respect and an advantage in another. There was no legacy mess to undo, so every decision could be made correctly from day one.

  • Built the website around local search from the first line of code. Most fence company websites are built to look good and then retrofitted for SEO, which never works properly. We built the structure first: a page for every service, a page for every area served, and clean internal linking between them, so the site was competing for local terms the day it went live.
  • Designed the homepage to convert, not just to load. The estimate form sits above the fold, visible without a single scroll. The phone number appears in the top bar, in the header and again in the hero, tappable on mobile. A homeowner who lands on the site can request a quote or place a call within two seconds of arriving.
  • Made the business unmistakably local to Google. Full name, address and phone number in the site header, matched exactly to the Google Business Profile, with service area pages reinforcing the same geography. Consistency across those signals is one of the strongest levers in local ranking, and it is free if you do it correctly at build time.
  • Optimised the Google Business Profile alongside the launch. Correct primary category, complete services and service areas across the Tallahassee metro, and a profile kept active so Google reads it as a live, trusted business rather than a dormant listing.
  • Tracked the map from launch, not from the first report. A geo grid campaign across the Tallahassee service area went live with the site, scanning seven commercial fence keywords on an ongoing basis. That gave us a real measurement of progress instead of an opinion about it.

Result: a website built to earn work, not just to exist

The site shown at the top of this page is the one we designed and built. Every element on it is doing a job.

The hero leads with what the business actually does and where it does it, which is what a search engine and a homeowner both need to see first. The estimate form is the largest element on the screen, and it asks only for what is needed to quote a fence. Contact details appear three separate times above the fold, because a homeowner ready to call should never have to hunt for a number.

Underneath the design, the structure carries the SEO. Separate pages for each service and each area served give the site something specific to rank with for each term, rather than one homepage trying to compete for everything at once. The gallery gives homeowners the proof of real completed work that turns a visit into an enquiry.

What was actually built

This is not a five page brochure site. An independent third party crawl of the domain confirms the full structure below, every page written, built and published as part of the project.

WHAT WE BUILTPAGESCOVERING
Service pages8Chain link, vinyl, wood and specialty fencing, deck installation, deck resurfacing, land preparation, debris removal
County service area pages5Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, Liberty and Wakulla counties
Supporting pages7Services hub, about, gallery, contact, quote and estimate forms
Total content pages20Built from nothing

The five county pages are the part most fence company websites skip. Credence does not just serve Tallahassee, it serves the counties around it, and each one now has a page of its own targeting how homeowners in that county actually search. That is the structural reason the map coverage below reaches so far beyond the city itself.

Why this matters more for a new build
A site built correctly from the start does not need a rescue later. There was no legacy structure to unpick, no thin pages to consolidate and no bad URLs to redirect. That is a large part of why the rankings below arrived as quickly as they did.

Result: top of the map across Tallahassee

We track seven commercial fence keywords across a grid of coordinates spanning the Tallahassee service area, refreshed on an ongoing basis. Each pin is a real search run from a real location. Green stars are number one rankings.

Across the grid for “chain link fence”, Credence holds high visibility in 83 percent of the service area at an average rank of 2.17, with the remaining 17 percent still in the middle of the map. Low visibility sits at zero, and so does the share of the grid where the business fails to appear at all. From a standing start, there is now no point in the Tallahassee service area where a homeowner can search for a fence company and not find Credence.

Lower is better. Every one of the seven tracked keywords sits inside the top five across the whole grid.

And it is still climbing

Because the tracking campaign has been running since launch, we can see the direction of travel rather than a single snapshot. Across every scan since tracking began, the campaign-wide average has improved from 4.34 to 3.47, a gain of nearly a full position measured across all seven keywords at once.

That is the pattern you want from a new site. The rankings are not a spike that arrived and faded. They have been compounding steadily as the site accumulates age, content and local signals, and the trend is still pointing in the right direction.
